soon

soon a tiny (and most likely hairy) head will fill this hat. soon may be tonight or soon may be several days from now. my contractions started last night about 10-15 minutes apart and have been increasing in strength and frequency since then. the baby has dropped - the bonus being i can now breathe easily and walking across a room doesn't leave me wheezing. we have prepared the kids to not expect us in the morning. :)

i sewed the hat this afternoon. something i have been hoping to make for sometime. just needed the proper motivation i guess. i love it. look for it in our coming home from the hospital photos. ;)

out of order halloween

so i started with photos from the end of our day and now i move backward in time to the afternoon. this is the first time i have ever carved a pumpkin on halloween itself. i tend to jump the gun and suffer the consequences of mushiness and decay. it made the day super fun and festive.

photos of saturday morning at the pumpkin patch to come.

being silly, staying busy

for some reason, i have convinced myself that this boy will be born today. don't ask me why. well, you could and i would tell you that everything is set up for me to be comfortably gone from my home for a few days without worry - an organized and fairly tidy house, laundry caught up, day of rest yesterday and a great family weekend behind me, no projects pressing to be finished. luca and gia are healthy. i think 11.2.09 is a nice birthdate (makes my mathematical side smile). i am showered. my hair looks nice. the camera battery is fully charged. the champagne is bought. the bag is packed.

if the day ends and no baby has come, i will just have to take a deep breath and get ready for the next 11 or so days of waiting. but today will be hard. i am a bit stir crazy.

so i am taking that pile of things that have collected in my craft closet needing to be mended and i will become a stuffed animal doctor, a restorer of books, an amateur cobbler, and a seamstress for ripped pants knees, fallen hems, and a wounded dragon's tail. just trying to stay busy. maybe while eating halloween candy.

a princess and her carebear

we have had a long and fun-filled day here at casa hart - pumpkin patch and carving, trick or treating, and a halloween party for the kiddos tonight. so i will just quickly "treat" you to a few of my favorite photos from the end of our day. maybe more details and photos to come tomorrow. i say maybe, because there is always the possibility that i will head to the hospital at any moment. :)
there was hope that all the walking today would help kick start this labor. oh well. . .

seriously? does it get any more adorable than this?

mouths full of candy - just practicing for the treats to come :)

scarves and apples = fall

one of my goals for this year was to finally learn how to knit and crochet. what has taken me so long? well, i finally began last month. jesse had thoughtfully brought me home a pair of knitting needles and gorgeous yarn from a business trip a couple months back. i checked out a book from the library - horrible idea - like i am going to learn without clear visuals. then i began an on-line search for video tutorials. jackpot! this great website was invaluable. i made a few tiny pieces while learning the basic stitches (which are happily used in our dollhouse) and for my first real project, i started simply. the above photo shows an almost completed scarf. now that i finished, the below photos show the lovely model wearing her mama's hard work. the apple was my way of getting her stay still while i snapped the shots. don't they just scream fall?
