we now have two swings hanging from the bottom of the deck.  compared to all of the other work, this was a ridiculously easy install with immediate gratification.  for some reason, gia looks quite unhappy here.  i think she wanted to be pushed, not photographed. :)

the unsightly pile of branches behind our fence is slowly being transformed into tree fort parts. 
thank you to our patient neighbors for allowing the mess back there.

for those interested in material details:
posts - pressure treated 3" round pine, 7ft lengths cut in half
railings- treated 1x4 pressure treated pine, 8 foot lengths cut to size
spindles - maple branches salvaged from the backyard trees, cut to size
fasteners- 6" long 3/8" lag bolts, with fender washers, lock washers, and nuts
various length deck screws

oh i love that you are using real branches :) i so wish i had a tree fort like this as a kid. so much fun!!

That fort is LOOKING GREAT! Seriously. Love following the updates on this. When your bunch is done, can they head my way? I would love one in the backyard for myself! :) Ha!

I agree with nicole i!!!  Move to California.  :)  And I so, completely love the tree fort.  Your kids are so lucky.  They're going to have so many wonderful childhood memories because of all the care and attention you guys give them.  You are amazing parents. :)  Miss you guys.
