finding my voice in october

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”
― George Eliot

this 31 days challenge couldnt' have happened at a better time of year.  not only is fall my favorite season, october is my absolute favorite month.  it just makes me want to live more intentionally.  to actively seek joy.

how fitting to find my voice in october.

i have decided that you can gauge the state of my emotional health by this chalkboard.  it sat blank for the last two months.  there was nothing in me to create.  losing the baby knocked the wind out of me in so many ways.  i felt - still feel - set adrift.  i know my anchor is the ultimate Hope-of-which-i-am-certain.  but the chain can seem so long and loose between my heart and that Hope.  but how good to be so sure even in heartache.

but an itch to add art to that big black blank space in my dining room grew.  the calendar showed me october 1st and it was time.
and oh this quote!

the same can be said for the state of my plants.  monsoon season saved these beauties from near complete lack of care.  (yes, monsoon season is a thing here, even in the desert.  don't mock.)  that and a certain 8yo boy who stepped up and took charge of potager watering.  i kinda had zero interest in my plants. i am thankful that my indoor succulents are forgiving and that it was particularly rainy this year.

but then i caught myself pruning and feeding and loving on them again last week.  hmmm.  a definite correlation.  the meyer lemon and key lime are now indoors for the cooler months.  they have added much appreciated life.  this wall may be my favorite in the house.

by the way, my green thumbs have been earned with much practice.  and i still kill plants.

i love that HE has ignited a passion for you to 'sing' again!
what a friend we have in Jesus! all our sins and griefs to bear!
for surely His timing is perfect in all of this, too, with the changing of the seasons.
He is so timely and this is so beautiful.

I use the word "delicious" constantly. Usually in regards to fabric. People don't always get it, so I'm glad you do! :)

I love your October board. And I love what you wrote. It means something to me, and I thank you for sharing!
