monkey business
so we had a little party.
and it was for this little guy. i mean big five year old guy. sorry.
and it was all about monkeys. (in case you can't tell, that is an origami monkey.)
and we hung them from "vines" over the table. (aka green raffia)
and here is luca waiting for our guests to arrive on a gorgeously sunny and warm tuesday morning. (which seemed way too early when you take into account the time change two days earlier)
and when they came, we played games. like monkey in the middle.
and they raced around acting like monkeys chasing bananas. jesse is convinced all you need to keep kiddos happy at a party is a beach ball and unshelled peanuts. you can't even plan that kind of thing.
and luca opened some fun presents.
and he has great friends. i love these guys.
and we ate yummy banana cupcakes. with oh so good chocolate frosting. and sprinkles! yay for sprinkles!
and i used pillowcases as a table runner. because why not? luca thought it was hilarious. glad that i can amuse him.
and i think i may have mentioned earlier this week - don't put candles in hot-from-the-oven monkey bread. because they will melt. i know, i know, that seems pretty obvious. but i'm just sayin'.
and i found these fun wood monkey kits at michaels for $2 a piece. they made fun favors. i think the boys will enjoy putting them together.
and yes i used a bedsheet for a tablecloth.
and at the very end (notice the chocolate smeared faces?) we held up a large sheet as a backdrop for a quick group photo. next time, i will try to remember this earlier (you know, before all the sugar and running around hypes them up!). but i love the mix of sweet goofy faces.
and that is how we celebrated luca turning five.
mission (to throw a cool multicolored monkey party) accomplished!
