how to make a simple, upcycled, framed chalkboard

for those who have asked. . .

2011 first day photos (miss gia)

step one: paint a section of your wall with several coats of chalkboard paint.  let it cure for a couple days.

step two: purchase secondhand wood trim from the local architectural salvage warehouse. cut four pieces (with mitered ends) to size.   (remember, measure twice, cut once!)

step three: paint if desired.  (ours were done with leftover benjamin moore mexicali turquoise.) or skip to step four.

step four:  nail to wall around your painted chalboard.

voila!
a simple, upcycled, framed chalkboard.

today it feels official
