cut off the bottom of your (empty) milk jug. (best to, ya know, drink it first.) cut a section out of the top of the handle. sterilize with 1:10 bleach & water solution. secure over plant with stick. voila! a no-cost way to protect baby seedlings from strong wind and critters (namely squirrels 'round these parts). i have heard it is not great for frost protection, but i can't speak from experience.
isn't it great reusing what is already on hand? (and we go through several gallons a week at casa hart.)
