"i am too excited to sleep."i motioned for him to climb in. my groggy voice must have communicated that i was not about to get up yet. we stayed cozy under the covers for a half hour before the next little stirred. by 7am we were sipping hot cocoa and reading from luke.
then clementines were pulled from stockings and unpeeled. a few small gifts - like thrifted vintage barrettes, a pair of binoculars and a few hotwheels - were also found tucked inside.
then we tried to get a group shot. this was the best of the bunch.
and when i say bunch, i mean it.
but i couldn't resist gia's face here.
and i love this sweet moment between our boys here.

but soon enough, we make it back to the tree and the pile of goodies. luca wore this costume for the next three days straight.

our traditional baked french toast was ready to enjoy when we were finished.

thank you grandma scrunchies and grandpa viejo! this boy spent the next three hours building this lego set on his own.
and gia thanks you so much for her replacement sleeping beauty.
with such generous family, and most of them far away, opening all of these gifts can be a bit overwhelming. but we feel so loved by everyone's thoughtfulness. the kiddos had a blast playing with their new toys. luca called it the best day ever. gia was lost in her own little princess world. enzo wondered why big brother and sister were so preoccupied to play with him. until he discovered the joy of sword fighting with luca that is.
