dirty hands, buried treasure

before making a run to the market, we root around in the potager to determine this week's harvest.

what does luca spy in the dirt?

our first potatoes!! he unearths several goodies, while investigating the bugs and worms living in the bed.

he gets hot in the morning sun and decides to go shirtless.

soon, he is drawn to the cherry tomatoes and i take over the excavation. those matoes never seem to make it in the house :)

we pull a carrot to check on their progress - not quite ready, but it still tasted yummy. we split it four ways and each got a bite.

this is our first root vegetable experience. jesse and i agree it may be the most exciting gardening there is - like finding buried treasure. stop by our place tonight for some yummy grilled rosemary potatoes!
