a january walk

with a high near 50 degrees today, we took our first walk as a family of five. and to one of my favorite places in the whole wide world - the public library.

on the way, we played on the middle school steps.

don't worry.  enzo was snuggled in the bjorn carrier under jesse's jacket.  they looked so comfy and warm.

i wonder if these little ones will share my love of libraries.  seriously, i would write a love song to libraries if i, you know, wrote songs. thank you God for libraries.  i get a little thrill every time i enter a row of novels holding worlds and adventures for my eager eyes.  from girlhood till mamahood, i have repeatedly sought refuge among my fictitious friends.  the smell of paper, the sound of rustling pages, the ability to find a secluded nook where you can not be found by your mom or your kids.  libraries make me feel safe and content.  the unknown potential of an unread book excites me and allows me escape.  my mind is stretched and my imagination fed.

do you have a place like that?

oh wait. is my not-the-most-adventurous son, thinking of jumping off this ledge? okay boy, show me what you got.

the look of joy on his face makes my heart full. i love being his mama.

when we arrived:

a librarian exclaimed, "luca and gia's baby brother is here" as we passed their desk.  admiration of his cuteness (and his yawning) was appropriately given.

14 books and 4 videos later we were ready to head home.

i had $11.75 in late fees.  ouch.  that's what happens when i forget to return my books before having a third baby.
