so i had to call 911 today. . .

. . . but thankfully everything is okay now.

this guy scared the daylights out of me today

lorenzo david jacinto hart likes to put things in his mouth.  a lot.  can you see where this is going?

yep.  while my back was turned, he swallowed something.  and it was scary.  between the screams of  pain and violent gagging, i frantically tried to help him spit out the object and then realized i should stop wasting time and call for help.

it was so scary.

he ended up getting down the object before any help arrived (even with the speedy 4 minute arrival) and smiled an exhausted, adorable grin at all the worried faces.  he checked out fine.  we will need to keep an eye on him to make sure that whatever he swallowed doesn't do any harm in there.  but according to our pediatrician, if he got it down, he can usually get it out.  :)

i have never had to make that call before.  i hope to never make it again.  but to live in a place with such a quick and well-trained response. . . well, a huge thank you to the calm 911 operator and kind paramedics.

after the patrol car, firetruck and ambulance drove away, i took my worn out babe upstairs to let big brother and sister on the excitement.  the kiddos i can almost always guarantee are within arm's reach, were totally clueless.  even with the windows open and sirens blaring right up to our front door.  the only thing about the morning that (kinda) made me laugh.

i spent the next few hours with a case of major jitters.  jumping at every little noise enzo made.  then i crashed in the late afternoon.  jesse (who was out of the loop for the entire thing while in meetings out of town) finally came home and i took a nap.  a long nap.

and i have feeling i will check on that boy several times tonight.  praise God he is here to check on.

I've never been worried about choking hazards until Miss Annie-Rose put the head of a wooden toy in her mouth and it almost disappeared down her throat. I couldn't believe it. Luckily I was right by her (for once) and pulled it out. I'm so glad it turned out good for you. I've had to call an ambulace this year too, i agree, it's not something you want to repeat.
