preparing our hearts and our home
this month we will be celebrating advent with much more intention than ever before. part of that entails this garland that almost wasn't. i worked late into the night yesterday (hence my absence here) on this last minute project. (it was actually fairly straightforward, but i did not begin until 9:30pm. yikes!)
each cone holds a few sweets and two rolled up papers. one piece has the scripture reading for the day. we are using ann voskamp's wonderful jesus advent celebration devotional. it is a free e-book!!! we have been so blessed already by her words. the second paper has an activity to enjoy for the day. there will be crafts and outings and serving and giving. i want there to be lots of giving.
i have not filled out all the papers yet and might just work on it night by night.
as you can see, our mantle is bare. i am taking it slow.
because this is a season of waiting and preparing. not rushing.
we are waiting.
He is coming!

This is so beautiful! We have this wooden advent calendar that has 24 doors, and inside each door is one part of the Nativity and a slip of paper that tells about that part. Today there was much excitement that the doors had arrived on the mantle! The anticipation of celebrating His coming is the best!
