ed emberley love
are you familiar with ed emberley and his wonderful drawing books? luca was given one at christmas and we are just smitten with it.
it is probably no big surprise that the first one to join our collection was the drawing book of animals. did i ever mention that luca wants to be an animal conservationist? yeah, that's my boy.
this was first published in 1970. 41 years ago! a testament to the lasting power of simple step-by-step instruction. each drawing is made with basic shapes and letters. very easy and satisfying.
aren't they so great? we are having lots of fun with this.
i want to make these thumbprint creatures too (and maybe even invent some of our own). you can also try your hand at a few animals on the website. but at $6 each, these books are a low-cost high-quality investment. we already have a request from our budding artist for the make a world drawing book next.
since i was taking photos of big brother and his drawing, gia staged this little scene so she could be involved. "mama, please take a picture of my dinosaurs standing next to this bucket." i was happy to oblige.
and then she asked for me to take this shot. she wanted to look "not happy" and "not mad." just serw-ious.
i think we have two budding artists in residence.
